Jean Sibelius (1865 –1957), was and remains Finland’s foremost composer. He was a nationalistic Romantic composer. His music tended to centre around themes of Finnish nature and landscapes, Nordic mythology and the epic poem Kalevala. He wrote seven symphonies, tone poems and various other works, including Masonic ritual music.
